A combination of three things. First is the large and thin unsupported area of the clubface that is flexible enough to deliver increased COR, which promotes increased ball speed for greater distance. Second is the next generation of TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone Technology, which increases the size of the clubface area that delivers high COR. That promotes higher ball speed when impact is made away from the center of the clubface, equaling greater average distance. Three, the shaft options – T Step 90-gram steel and RE*AXTM 65-gram graphite shafts – are both lightweight and tip-soft, promoting higher clubhead speed, a strong release and high ball flight for exceptionally long carry and distance.

What design elements does the r7 iron feature that promote accuracy?
The r7 irons are engineered with moderate offset, with the leading edge of the clubface positioned behind the front of the hosel. Offset makes it easier for most average players to square the clubface to the ball at impact, resulting in straighter shots for greater accuracy.

How workable is the r7 iron?
The r7 iron is less workable than the r7 TP iron, however players with the ability and inclination to intentionally fade or draw the ball should be able to do so with the r7 iron.
