Lyle & Scott Green Eagle Golf Clothing
Lyle & Scott is a Scottish knitwear brand, formerly known for golfing knitwear. It acquired a younger more fashionable following with young 'casuals' in the 1980s. The golden eagle logo has been seen sported by musicians like the Arctic Monkeys, Pete Doherty, Kasabian as well as TV presenters Tim Lovejoy, Dermot O Leary, Max Halliday, Simon Amstell and Steve Jones.
Lyle & Scott was founded in 1874 in the Scottish town of Hawick by William Lyle and Walter Scott and the brand still draws from a 125 year old archive that includes designs by Christian Dior and Michael Kors. The rejuvenation of the brand can be traced back to 2003 with the launch of the ‘Vintage’ collection with its ‘Golden Eagle’ logo which was taken up by a host of indie bands and youth TV presenters. In 2005 following the success of the Vintage range, Lyle & Scott’s first stand-alone store opened in London’s Covent Garden on King Street. In early 2009 Lyle & Scott launched the ‘Club’ collection, a golf line aimed at the young golfer. A wide range of polo shirts, knitted sweaters and track jackets are all available in a variety of different colours.
