Lower bounce options are a little more difficult to use effectively and therefore require more skill. With a lower bounce, it is all too easy for that leading edge to dig in resulting in an embarrassing duff that only travels a few feet. When used correctly though a low bounce wedge can allow you to play wonderful low checking shots from tight fairways. If you are generally a good striker on your chip and pitch shots, they can be a superb option, especially if you often play from firm and tight turf. 

Mid bounce wedges are a good all-round option and can be used effectively from a variety of different surfaces. They are also fine to use from bunkers.
