The launch of new Titleist golf equipment is always one that is eagerly awaited. This certainly rings true for the new Titleist 915 D2 Golf Driver. It is one of two new models, the other being the 915 D3. they are the most technologically advanced driver models that Titleist have ever made.
The D2 comes with a 460cc head and is designed for maximum distance and forgiveness while the slightly smaller D3 model is a 440cc model designed for those keen to have more workability and shot shaping in their driver.
Both Titleist 915 drivers offer improved forgiveness and increase distance through some exciting new technologies, including the introduction of the Active Recoil Channel. This is something Titleist are very excited about, and with very good reason.
More Distance Through Higher Speed and Lower Spin - Active Recoil Channel
The wide sole channel delivers more distance by actively flexing at impact to launch the ball off the face with higher speed and lower spin. Clubs without ARC technology have a rigid sole and deflect more in the crown at impact leading to higher spin. The recoil channel is wide, deep, long " and can be seen as the brand's take on a slot-style design " it has been positioned to coil and spring for consistent spin and speed across the face. The result is more distance through lower spin and higher ball speeds. What's more, filling materials, which can often affect performance, haven't been used at all.
Low Centre of Gravity for High MOI
The Active Recoil Channel also means the centre of gravity of the Titleist 915 drivers has remained low and deep, facilitating a higher moment of inertia for increased forgiveness, something that can help every golfer. Higher MOI is also brought about through a thinner cast crown, a weight pad, Ti 8-1-1 Light Density Casting and a SFT weight placement in the sole.
More Distance on Off-Centre Hits - Radial Speed Face
The high speed face insert with a thick centre and radially thin perimeter in the heel and toe, delivers more distance on off-centre hits. Both the 915 D2 and the 915 D3 also boast the new Radial Speed Face, which boosts forgiveness on off-centre hits through thinner heel and toe sections on a forged face insert.
More Distance, More Often thanks to High MOI Design
Reduced thickness up front allows weight to be strategically placed in the back, resulting in a low and deep centre of gravity that provides ball speed preserving forgiveness.
