Differences between the Miura Wedge Family
Standard wedges have a standard sole design suitable for most courses and situations.
K Grind wedges have 3 grooves on the sole of the club designed to keep the face squarer through sand and deep rough, therefore easier to control the ball.
C Grind wedges have the Heel and Toe of the sole grounded off more so that it makes for opening the face up and creating more loft, stops the snagging/getting caught up with the turf.
Y Grind Wedges have the grind at the back of the sole.
As manufacturers of the some of the world's most sought after irons, it will come as no surprise that Miura have a range of incredible wedges too. By combining the trademark feel of the iron range with hand ground aesthetics, the wedges are true short game dynamite. Miura wedges have graced the bags of many a Major Champion over the years so why not add one into your bag too. The Miura wedge collection are fantastic scoring clubs offering superb feel and feedback on every shot.
Miura have a select range of 3 Limited Edition wedges that comprise the 1957 Series
The Miura family's (Katsuhiro and his sons Yoshitaka and Shinei) research for the Series 1957 K-Grind wedge included trips to North America and Europe to study a variety of playing conditions and turf structures. The family's goal was to create a wedge with the heel and toe relief that many golfers are now looking for, but at the same time not compromise the basic fundamentals of a high performance golf club. The challenge was to find the perfect balance between the heel and toe relief and the rolled trailing edge on the sole, which Miura has done. When this "special grind" is combined with the unique characteristics that separate Miura clubs from all others, such as density of grain structure, balance and feel, the result is a wedge that is eminently playable in a broad range of conditions. The feel and precision of the 1957 Series wedges can't be explained in words, it must be experienced to be understood.
About the Miura 1957 Series K-Grind Wedge
The international golfing press has always used the words "from the hands of god" to describe Katsuhiro Miura's forged irons. Could it be that the inspiration for his newest wedge came from his own hands? The sole of the new K-Series wedge is "fluted" which bears a striking resemblance to finger-tip impressions, or even human knuckles. These three channels reduce the resistance against the wedge in sand, thick rough, and even the fairway. The sole of the wedge moves with the grass instead of against it. The channels move around the sand instead of colliding with it. It allows the wedge to accelerate thru the ball with less effort in every condition to improve the odds of hitting a good shot.
Features of the K-Grind Wedge
- Better results out of wet sand.
- Reduces the odds of "catching it heavy" on long bunker shots.
- Better acceleration on half and quarter swings around the green.
- Digs it out of deep rough.
- Works great in normal conditions with the same, classic Miura feel
Loft and Bounce options
The Miura K-Grind 1957 Series is available in 3 different lofts and bounce angles.
Miura Forging Process
Miura's forging techniques rearrange the molecular structure of the mild steel in a pattern that is uniform throughout the club head. This eliminates void spots in the club face. This process assures that every Miura club in your bag has the distance control, ball flight, spin, and feel that any golfer should demand. This tightness in the grain structure of the metal is what gives Miura made clubs the controlled, soft feel that other manufacturers cannot achieve. Miura also uses a proprietary "spin welding" process to produce the industries' most consistent hosel. This unique procedure ensures that the bore depths and hosel heights are identical on every Miura made head and the shaft of every club will be perfectly centered.
Miura Custom Fitting
By selecting from the Custom Fit dropdowns above, you can build the perfect set-up for your new Miura wedge. Miura wedges can be SST Pured or built with different shafts, grips as well as custom lie and length angles. Miura golf club technicians will build your club to the desired specification.
