Classic muscle back blade from Miura. This is quite simply one of the finest sets of golf clubs that money can buy. Unbelievable craftsmanship, feel and appearance makes the Miura blade one of the worlds most sought after golf clubs. The forging technique reduces the spin rate so that iron shots are easier to control than a regular forging.
Time and Experience Lead to Refinement - and Better Golf
The MB001 design is the result of years of study and careful consideration of iron performance by the Miura family. Yoshitaka Miura, elder son of founder Katsuhiro Miura and a club-grinding expert who learned under his father, led the project. He had the advice of his brother Shinei, who supervises forging operations at the company's factory and forge in Himeji, Japan, and of course his father.
Turf travel
The sole shape and size, subtly adjusted from successful designs of earlier models, gets through the turf more efficiently and gives the player a better chance of keeping the club face square at impact. In a properly fitted MB001, this sole delivers a consistently sized, crisp divot that is evidence of a solid, efficient strike.
Top line
It's narrow, but still shows the strength and substance of the face. At address, the top line presents a simple, clean look that reduces distraction and promotes confidence.
Transition area and compact look
The flow of steel from the hosel to the low-offset head is smooth, elegant, and non-reflective. Yoshitaka-san took a lot of time to get this right; he also focused carefully on the relationship of the toe and heel so that they look harmonious as a whole. The MB001 head is almost the same length heel-to-toe as our Tournament Blade, and like that club, offers plenty of "face space" without looking overly long.
Upright appearance
While the MB001, like all Miura irons, can be adjusted for lie angle by authorized Miura dealer/fitters, the entire aspect of this club at address gives a more upright aspect to the golfer. Without feeling cramped, the player feels closer to the ball, able to see all of it without adjusting away from a comfortable head position. This better view of the ball adds to pre-stroke confidence.
Graphics
As with all Miura irons, the back of the club head is uncrowded, simple, and designed for striking beauty. Less is a great deal more.
Miura Custom Fitting
Build your dream set of Miura golf irons using the drop down menus above. Miuras can be SST Pured or built with different shafts, grips, or custom lie and length angles.
Miura Forging Process
Miura's forging techniques rearrange the molecular structure of the mild steel in a pattern that is uniform throughout the club head. This eliminates void spots in the club face. This process assures that every Miura club in your bag has the distance control, ball flight, spin, and feel that any golfer should demand. This tightness in the grain structure of the metal is what gives Miura made clubs the controlled, soft feel that other manufacturers cannot achieve. Miura also uses a proprietary "spin welding" process to produce the industries' most consistent hosel. This unique procedure ensures that the bore depths and hosel heights are identical on every Miura made head and the shaft of every club will be perfectly centered.
Where does the famous "Miura feel" come from?
Since Katsuhiro Miura began making golf clubs in 1957, Miura clubs are made one by one, using many handcrafting processes, and will never be mass produced. Special forging techniques assure that the grain of the steel in each club will be fine and uniform, with no voids or tiny bubbles that could interfere with the famous Miura purity of the strike. This grain, more comparable to a jar of sand than a jar of marbles, is the result of careful and patient forging and finishing, and it is this that sets Miura apart from other clubs.
Why choose Miura Golf Irons?
At Scottsdale, it's a question we are often asked. Once golfer's hit one, the answer is in the feel. Here is a little bit of history of the brand and why Miura irons should be a serious consideration for all golfers.
Miura Golf of Japan makes the world's finest forged golf clubs. They are designed and manufactured by patriarch and club expert Katsuhiro Miura with the help of his sons Yoshitaka and Shinei, both of whom he trained. People are amazed that master craftsman Katsuhiro Miura, who is often referred to in the Japanese media as having the Hands of God, actually works hands-on in his factory every day. He passes down his knowledge and skills to his two sons, and even grinds the club heads himself as well.
His endless quest for the perfect club has brought to the world over 10 series of Miura clubs, a number that continually grows as he continues his meticulous refinement.
When golfers see a Miura club for the first time, and actually hold it in their hands, there is a common shared experience - love at first sight. We aren't even joking. We have seen the effect in our Manchester fitting facility so many times.
Miura makes its forged clubs -- irons, wedges and putters -- in the company's one factory and one forge, both in the city of Himeji, which was for centuries the seat of the ancient Japanese art of samurai sword making. While demand for those weapons has diminished, the generations of steelmaking skill and passion have not - and these are the attributes that the Miura family brings to the creation of the world's best golf clubs.
Major Championship wins
Among professional golfers, the Miura name is well-known. Indeed, before he made clubs under his own name, Katsuhiro Miura supplied many top Touring Professionals with the clubs they used to win Major Championships. Out of deference to those players and their current endorsement relationships, Katsuhiro Miura does not discuss them specifically. Instead, he focuses on the design and manufacture of his current clubs, which are to him the highest expression of his decades-long quest for golf club perfection.
