The club face is constructed from a high strength C300 steel which creates explosive ball speeds and makes this one of the longest ever fairway woods. The face of the TaylorMade SIM2 MAX D Fairway Woods also benefits from Twist-Face technology and this design helps to correct the curve of shots that are struck out of the heel or toe. 

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket has been re-engineered to allow the face to flex more especially low down on the face. Low-face strikes are by far the most common mishit on a fairway wood and shots struck here have historically led to huge losses of ball speed and increased spin. The extra flex now created, will help preserve ball speed and reduce spin which leads to a far less drastic loss of performance on ‘thin’ strikes.
