Callaway Create Paradigm Shift

In an effort to create something entirely different, Callaway have reimagined how a driver is built from the ground up. Up to this point,  there has always been some kind of compromise required when choosing a new driver. If you wanted to max out your distance, then levels of forgiveness would be affected. if you wanted something that was super easy to hit, then distance would always have to suffer. With the release of the new Paradym range of clubs, Callaway claim to have broken through this frustrating barrier and can now provide golfers with maximum levels of both consistency and distance in the same golf club.

Paradigm Shift

                      noun

a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions.

Callaway have achieved this feat by using an industry first 360 carbon chassis crown that has enabled them to completely eliminate titanium from the body - opening up new realms of stability and forgiveness whilst pushing ball speeds to the max. The Triaxial Carbon Crown and Forged Carbon Sole used in the Paradym driver is an astonishing 44% lighter than a traditional titanium chassis and this huge saving in weight has allowed the engineers to redistribute it more effectively - increasing M.O.I to previously unattainable levels. The new Callaway Paradym Driver range once again features the tour proven A.I. designed Jailbreak system which provides the clubhead with excellent stability in both the horizontal and torsional directions. The Jailbreak technology has been redesigned and now weighs in 33% lighter than in the previous models.

That isn't the end of the technological advances though - the clubface itself has been redesigned by artificial intelligence and now delivers enhanced speed, improved launch and spin, and tighter downrange dispersion. The Paradym driver family is also the first Callaway offering to feature their industry leading face cup technology, delivering a far higher energy transfer to the golf ball than ever before. Initial reports suggest that the Callaway Tour Players have picked up signifcant ball speed using a Paradym driver.

The Callaway Paradym driver range consists of three different head models, Paradym, Paradym X & Paradym Triple Diamond. As in the past, each model offers different characteristics that makes them suitable for different types of player. Let's have a closer look at each model.

Callaway Paradym Driver

The standard Paradym driver is the most well rounded of the three models in terms of performance, and will therefore, suit the largest amount of golfers. It provides a refined shape at address with extremly high M.O.I and adjustable perimeter weighting - giving the golfer further opportunity to customise their ball flight. The Paradym driver has been designed for every skill level of golfer and promotes a high launch with low spin and a neutral ball flight. It offers the best combination of distance, forgiveness and adjustability ever seen in a driver.

As you can see in the photos below, Callaway have dialled up the shelf appeal on the Paradym range with a supremely attractive mottled Navy colour scheme. This is something of a departure for Callaway, who have previously opted for more muted colouring on the crown. I think you'll agree that they look absolutely spectacular.

 Callaway Paradym X Driver

The slice is a shot that still affects huge swathes of the golfing population, despite the abundance of golfing tips on social media channels such as YouTube. Fortunately for countless golfers afflicted by this most frustrating shot shape, Callaway continue to make huge strides in producing clubs that can counter-act this destructive curve. The Callaway Paradym X has a generously stretched profile at address which inspires confidence when it is placed behind the ball. It has been designed to produce a high launch with mid levels of spin and provides the golfer with extreme levels of forgiveness. It delivers a draw bias as standard which should help golfers spend less time searching for their ball in the rough whilst a 5g rear weight has been strategically positioned to increase launch and maximise carry distance

Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Driver

For years, it was a well known fact that many of Callaway's tour players were provided with versions of their driver that were not available to the public. Known as Triple Diamond heads, they carried with them a certain amount of mystique and, should one ever find its way on to 2nd hand auction sites, they would often fetch huge amounts of money. This all changed last year when Callaway released their Rogue line-up of drivers with the Triple-Diamond version part of it - available to the general public for the first time. As someone that has been fortunate enough to use the Rogue Triple Diamond for the past twelve months I can confidently state that it is the best driver I have ever used. The Callaway Paradym range continues in a similar vein with the Triple Diamond version available to all at launch. I can't wait to get my hands on this latest version and I am already counting down the days until the release date!

The 450cc Paradym Triple Diamond is slightly smaller than the other two models and has the most compact look at address. It has been designed with the better ball-strikers in mind who like to shape the ball the most from the tee. It is also the lowest launching and lowest spinning Paradym model which gives it the potential to produce some huge distances from the tee. A 14g back-weight can be repositioned at the front of the head, which lowers the spin still further and allows for easier shot shaping. It is a truly stunning piece of kit.

Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods (Paradym, Paradym X & Paradym Triple Diamond)

Callaway has also released the same three models in the Paradym family of fairway woods and this marks the first time that a triple diamond version has released to the general public. Speed & Stability has been improved over previous models through redesigned Jailbreak with Batwing technology. By pushing this structure closer to the perimeter, the body of the head has been stiffened, which in turn allows the face to flex more and produces greater ballspeeds. Much like the driver range, the fairways benefit from a much increased use of carbon, which has allowed the Callaway engineers to redistribute the weight more effectively to increase both distance and forgiveness in all three models.

As with the drivers, the Paradym is the most versatile of the three models and will suit the broadest section of golfers. The Paradym X has been designed to offer the highest launch, a slight draw bias and offers the golfer the most forgiving shape. The 3-wood is adjustable to help dial launch in still further. The Paradym Triple Diamond is once again the most compact looking out of the three models and has been designed with the better player in mind. This model is the ideal choice for the golfer who is looking for a penetrating ball flight with lower spin.

Callaway Paradym Hybrids (Paradym & Paradym X)

The Callaway Paradym family continues with two models of hybrid, the Paradym and the Paradym X. Both offerings are mid-sized and are more wood-like than iron-like and both offer superb versatility and control. Ball speeds on both models have been improved over previous models through the use of their revolutionary Tungsten Speed Cartridge. By incorporating high-density tungsten Callaway have been able to push the centre of gravity more low and forward which results in lower spin and increased ball speed. Jailbreak with Batwing technology has been refined which improve ball speeds still further Both models benefit from an all-new cutwave sole which has been specifically designed to cut the turf more efficiently. Increased camber on the leading edge improves turf interaction through the strike.

Callaway Paradym irons (Paradym & Paradym X)

Players distance irons have become one of the most popular categories in recent times and there have been some superb releases in this category over the past few years. The new Callaway Paradym family is the latest addition to this category of iron and the two models will undoubtedly be thought of as some of the finest irons of all time. Historically, distance irons have always lost something in the way of feel through impact, and so despite producing excellent distance they have often been shunned by the better golfers. This issue has been addressed with the Paradym range which, thanks to their paradigm shift construction, now delivers the holy grail of exceptional distance and a premium forged feel.

The construction of these fabulous irons combines a Forged 455 face with an all-new speed-frame - delivering their most powerful forged face to date. Each face is individually optimised for more speed, higher launch and increased spin consistency giving golfers the ability to fire at every flag. The all-new hollow-body design has been significantly improved from previous versions through speed frame construction. It is this unique technology that is the catalyst for stabilising an extremely thin face, which in turn produces the industry leading ball speeds that could revolutionise your golf game. Both models benefit from Callaway's patented Urethane Microspheres that are inside the hollow body, and these help to deliver the ultra-soft feel and premium sound that the discerning player demands. Tungsten weighting has been used both internally and externally and they have been strategically placed to enhance launch conditions and improve speed on mis-hits. It is this level of forgiveness that can be the difference between missing and hitting the green.

The Callaway Paradym iron model features a players look in a forgiving package with a pre-worn leading edge that has been designed to cut through the turf more efficiently and delivers increased forgiveness and is aimed at the low to mid handicap golfer.

The Callaway Paradym X iron model has a thicker topline and a more forgiving sole and will be more suited to mid to high handicappers.

Callaway Golf have produced some superb ranges over the past few seasons, but nothing has excited me quite like the arrival of the new Paradym family. With stunning looks and industry leading performance across the entire range, there is no doubt that Callaway have smashed it out of the park once again. The hardest part for me now, is waiting for the day to arrive when my beautiful blue babies are placed proudly in my golf bag.
