Mizuno Pro 2024: A New Age Of Forging

The foundation of the Mizuno Pro Iron family for 2024 is one of a unique, long-standing connection between Mizuno's club engineers and its Grain Flow Forging plant in Hiroshima, Japan. A relationship which enables increasingly sophisticated designs to be crafted flawlessly into finished equipment. Where every fraction of a millimetre and subtle curve matters.

Similar to their 2022 predecessor the new line up of Mizuno iron comes in 3 distinct models, each with their own intended audience and host of tech which aligns with that. 241, 243 & 245 have all been created on the back of improvements and feedback on the already wildly poplar and successful 221, 223 and 225 we saw in 2022. Adidtionally we also get treated to a new Fli-Hi for this year for those who loved the previous iteration and are partial to a driving iron in the bag.

Throughout the line up of models we actually see a reduction in blade length, going directly against many other manufacturers who have been tailoring their irons to be as big and forgiving as possible, with Mizuno really going for that better player look. Thats not to say, however, that Mizuno havent meticulously combed through every detail of each iron, packing the new releases with as much tech as possible whilst mainitaing that iconinc Mizuno feel. This is ensured as for 2024 Mizuno's egineers continue the usage of their HIT (Harmonic Impact Testing) to predict, to an incredible degree of accuracy, the frequencies an iron head will emit at impact, which in turn delivers that sound and feel to the player.

With refined looks and tech, the lineup follows the same pattern as 2022's release:

241 - Your classic blade. Incredible aesthetics in combination with the pinnacle of feel and performance. New sole geometry means better turf interaction. A tapered blade design on the 241 means that the blade looks smaller from address than its predcessor without sacrificing feel.

243 - The players distance iron. This iron has undergone what appears to be the most drastic transformation of the 3 models from its previous iteration. A significant reduction in size can be seen in head length and from heel to toe, whilst also decreasing the size of the topline. "Smaller and Hotter" is how Mizuno have described this new look 243, with ball speed technology the main forcus in the long and mid irons whith a more precision bias in those shorter, scoring clubs.

245 - As is the theme across the new models, the 245 has seen the overall size of the iron decrease, bringing a more compact look and thinner topline. Without changing too much of the incredibly successful 225 the change in size has enabled Mizuno to make the 245's multi-thickness face thinner in key areas, particularly low on the face, which in theory should help increase ball speeds.

Fli-Hi - Joining their iron sets, the Fli-Hi also follows the same overall trend. Compact head shape, thinner topline and a reduced overall silhouette. As with the 245 the Fli-Hi's multi-thickness face is thinner, allowing for faster ball speeds.

If you loved the 2022 release from Mizuno, the advancements in tech and aesthetics will surely mean that a new set of Mizuno's should be something youre heavily considering for the 2024 season and beyond.
