Which battery type should I go for?

Batteries have come an awful long way over the last decade as manufacturers have made the switch from lead acid to lithium. Lead Acid batteries have always been extremely heavy with somewhat questionable reliability and a lifespan that was far from ideal. This would cause electric trolleys to often run out of steam, usually on 480-yard par 4’s, that were straight uphill and into the wind. By comparison, lithium batteries are an absolute delight, weighing a fraction of their predecessors and bringing with them a limited five-year guarantee. Lithium batteries take a maximum of four hours to charge back to full, as opposed to the ten hours plus of a lead acid variant. It must be said that lead acid batteries are much better than they used to be and are still available on certain trolleys as a low-cost option for golfers on a budget. I would however, always recommend getting a lithium battery if finances allow.

The modern-day lithium batteries easily power your electric trolley over eighteen holes, regardless of how hilly it is, with many of the eighteen-hole batteries now doing significantly more than the eighteen required. The 36-hole battery is an ideal choice for golfers that often do 36 holes on the same day and they will also allow you to play rounds over two days without charging which can prove to be an appealing option. If you only play a couple of rounds a week, then the eighteen-hole battery will more than suffice.
