Should I wear my waterproof trousers over my normal golf trousers? 

Virtually all waterproof golf trousers are designed to be worn over the top of your normal trousers. The technology involved in the construction of today’s waterproof trousers is now so advanced that even lower cost waterproof trousers now offer excellent breathability. This prevents any unpleasant overheating on warm but wet days. 

Of course, there is nothing preventing you from wearing them as regular trousers, but there will often be a lining inside them that can feel a little uncomfortable when worn against the skin. Many manufacturers now produce regular trousers that are classed as water resistant. These types of trousers will protect you from light rain for a brief time due to the coating applied to them. They are not, however, guaranteed waterproof. Should it rain properly, your legs will get wet.
